Weltformat 2022

Poster designed for Weltormat Festival’s 2022 edition on the theme of ‘Never Not Moving’. Taking place in Lucerne, Switzerland, the festival is dedicated to graphic design and its role as a cultural identity, featuring a series of exhibitions and events throughout the city.

Exploring the concept of ‘Never Not Moving’, seven designers are invited to create their own version of the festival poster, using a given grid-based design with outline letterforms as a basis.

The poster is thought to work for print as well as digital formats — the former used across printed communication for the festival, the latter for displaying the moving version of the design through screen installations on the events’ venue.

The design concept and the technique used are aimed at conveying the intersection of static and motion, merging digital and analogue techniques. The result is 120 hand-painted frames with 3D rotating and twisting letters that dynamically display the festival’s name.
